10 August 2010

Terry's memorial gig was a great success. The hall was packed to capacity and a great time was had by all who managed to get a ticket. Special thanks to Steve, Simon and Malcolm who joined us on stage and also to the various solo acts that played during the break.

Special thanks also to Donna and Karina who organized the event and decorated the hall.

Over £1000 was raised for charity which was equally split between Cancer Research and MacMillan nurses.

Following John "Spud" Spurling's kind assistance last year, we are pleased to welcome John to the band as our new bass player.

John has appeared with countless bands and musicians throughout his career, both on stage and in the studio, and is a welcome addition to the band. More info will follow in due course.

A date and venue has now been confirmed for Terry's memorial gig. It will be held on the evening of Saturday 3 July at Ashingdon Memorial Hall, Ashingdon Road, Ashingdon. We are asking for a contribution of just £5.

The entertainment for the evening will be provided by The Revival Band and guests, who so far includes Steve Lowe, Graham Hunter, Simon Law and Cherry Red amongst others.

It will be an evening for us all to get together again and remember our dear friends as well as raising some  money for charities (to be decided at a later date).  As there is no bar at the hall you will be able to bring your own drinks and nibbles - we will provide a few nibbles as well, not a huge buffet as we want to keep costs down.

We will be having a raffle and other fundraising activities.  If anyone has any raffle prizes they can donate please let us know or if you know any businesses, shops etc who would be able to donate something that would be great, the more the better!!

Unfortunately we start the year with some sad news.

I'm very sorry to report that Terry finally lost his fight with cancer and passed away peacefully at home on the morning of 19th December.

A Thanksgiving Service was held on 6th January at the Ashingdon Elim Church where Terry had been a keen member for several years. The music was provided by several musicians that had played with him over the years. Despite the weather, every seat was taken and it was standing room only at the back of the church. During the service a poem which Terry had written was read out as well as several tributes by friends and family.

Terry was one of the 'good guys' and will be missed by all that knew him.

In memory of Terry, we are planning a Charity gig in the summer. Several musicians that played with Terry will be invited to play along so it should be a good night and hopefully we'll raise plenty of money for Terry's favourite Charities.

Date and venue will follow when confirmed.
